The 2025 Lansing Foundation Positive Impact Campaign

The Roc Solid Foundation builds hope for kids fighting cancer.

“When a child is diagnosed with cancer, the first thing taken away is the opportunity to play,” notes Eric Newman, founder and Chief Play Officer.

Founded in 2009, Roc Solid supports families fighting pediatric cancer by providing hospital Ready Bags at diagnosis and building backyard play structures during treatment.

This spring, Lansing’s 114 Lansing branches will be taking part in the “Positive Impact Campaign” April 14 through May 31. Branches and The Home Office will be collecting associate and customer donations to benefit the Lansing Foundation. By raising a minimum of $250, each branch is entered to win a $1000 Roc Solid Playset build, or $1000 to sponsor a service event at a local 501(c)(3).

“Treatments leave kids with weak immune systems – and often the inability to interact and play with others,” notes Newman. A new backyard play structure not only provides a safe, germ-free place to play but also gives the child and family an escape from the reality of fighting pediatric cancer and a way to create happy memories together.

“Having teams come together to make a positive impact in a family’s life is the most important thing,” said Rick Smith, Tampa Branch Manager, whose branch recently helped construct a playset for a local family. “It is an awesome experience to come together and to see a family smile and their child be able to play.”

Throughout 2024, Lansing associates supported Roc Solid by constructing 23 playsets and playhouses. Additionally, the Lansing Foundation donated $50,000 in support of the fight against pediatric cancer.

“Seeing the Southborough and Waltham teams come together was truly inspiring and heartwarming,” said Josh Smith, Southborough Branch Manager, who coordinated a fundraiser and November build with the two branches. “This shows what we can achieve when we unite with a shared purpose and compassion. Today created a memory for the family receiving this playset and our associates.”
