Lansing’s focus is to live our Mission in every aspect of our work, embodying respect, service, and excellence not only with the products and services we provide but also through the lives we touch in the communities we serve.
Lansing’s Nashville (TN) branch demonstrates its commitment to the community through several service initiatives including the “One Warm Coat” Coat Drive; fundraising efforts to build a Roc Solid playset for pediatric cancer patients; and providing support to Nashville teenager Matthias Uribe, stricken by a rare bacterial infection.
“We strive to create a culture of giving back and making a positive impact through our associates, customers, and the community,” said Sam Smith, Branch Manager. “We want to be a family that gives back to others because it’s good for the heart and soul. Plus, it attracts others to our team that feel the same way.”
A memorable moment for Smith was spending time with the Nashville team during the Roc Solid playset build. Roc Solid, a childhood cancer foundation builds hope for families by providing them with hospital Ready Bags at diagnosis and safe backyard play structures during treatment. “Building the playset for RocSolid was incredible. Seeing so many of our people taking their Saturday to give back meant so much. Everyone had an opportunity to see firsthand how we made a positive impact in other people’s lives.”
Smith encourages associates in Nashville to utilize a new benefit from Lansing, which allows each associate to earn up to 16 hours of paid time off each calendar year. This time off can be used to engage in volunteer opportunities that directly support a beneficiary of the Lansing Foundation or any other 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Smith recognizes the positive impact that volunteering has on associates and the community. “It brings us closer as a team and creates a culture of giving back and caring about others.”
